Holly Metcalf (founder
and executive director)
Holly has been involved with rowing as an athlete and coach for more than
twenty years. She was a six-time national/Olympic team member, bringing
home the Olympic gold in 1984, as well as three silver and one bronze
World Championships medals between 1981 and 1987. She has coached at the
national team, collegiate and community levels. After completing a BA
at Mt. Holyoke College, she earned a master's degree in risk and prevention
and a certificate of advanced study in human development and psychology
from Harvard University, where she studied with Carol Gilligan. She founded
Row As One Institute, Inc. in 1994. Its first program was aimed to give
masters women (age 27+) an opportunity to receive top coaching and training
instruction.
Abby Peck (coach)
Abby began rowing in the fall of 1981 with the Boston Rowing Club. Eight
months later she was invited to the Olympic Development Camp, then the
National Team Selection Camp, and won the pairs trials to become the first
novice rower to make a National Team. During her rowing career Abby earned
12 gold medals, 3 silvers, and a bronze at the National Championships.
She made 7 National Teams, including the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Teams,
winning 5 medals internationally. She also won at the Head of the Charles®
five years in a row. Abby earned her Master’s Degree in Exercise
and Sport Science from Smith College. She now runs runs her own personal
training business. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and has a Level
I & II Coaching Certification from U.S. Rowing. When available, Abby
coaches at our camps, clinics, the Head of the Charles® and the WeCanRow
program in Boston.
Mary O'Brien (coach)
Mary coaches for our WeCanRow program and for various clinics. When she
is not coaching for us, Mary is a personal trainer at Health Works in
Cambridge, MA. Her coaching experience includes being the novice coach
at Wellesley College under Abby Peck, Mt. Baker Junior girls and Conibear
Massters Women both in Seattle. Mary learned to row through the Boston
University summer rowing program, then rowed at Community Rowing. She
also trained for the National Team with Boston Rowing Club. Her favorite
rowing moment was winning the lightweight pair with her sister at American
Nationals. Mary is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist
and holds a masters degree in Human Movement from Boston University.

Molly Jordan (coach)
Molly entered in the rowing world in 1993 as a walk on for the Washington
State University crew under Tammy Crawford, where during her novice year
she participated in an undefeated season, and brought home a PAC-10 championship.
1997, her college career concluded with another PAC-10 Championship and
a National Championship. Moving east to complete a Master's in Social
Work from Boston University, Molly became actively involved in the Boston
Rowing scene. In 2004 she began coaching masters at the Gentle Giant Rowing
Club, where her characteristic enthusiasm and dedication helped build
and strengthen the program. Currently, she coaches WeCanRow-Boston Racing,
G-Row Boston, and is a favorite coach Row As One Masters' Camps.
