Row
As One has various volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.
Some specific opportunities are listed below. Please check here periodically
to see new opportunities or please email
us to let us know what you would be interested in.
WeCanRow Program Volunteer
The WeCanRow program currently holds practice on Tuesday nights at 6:30
throughout the year. We have a need for Coxswains (from
April through October), volunteer coaches and general volunteers
(who may be needed to row on occasion). We
ask that you contact us prior to appearing at practice. Ideally, you could
make a commitment for a season. However, if you are unable to do that,
we ask that you work with our head coach to set down a schedule so that
we can plan accordingly. Please email holly@rowasone.org
if you would like to volunteer for this program.
Head of the Charles® WeCanRow Event
Committee Member
Each year we organize a racing boat for the WeCanRow program. If possible,
all racers are chosen from the existing WeCanRow programs. However, we
also recruit from the general rowing population if we do not have enough
WeCanRow participants to complete the boat. (Many
of our participants are new to rowing and therefore not quite ready for
a race such as the Head of the Charles®.) This boat is the
focus of our WeCanRow fundraising activities, providing an excellent public
relations opportunity for our sponsors. Sub-committees for this group
include: Race Participant Logistics; Racing Logistics; Public Relations;
Fundraising; Alumnae Dinner; Booth. We need committee heads and members
for each sub committee. Although we like to start early (starting
in June) the bulk of our activities are focused in September and
October.
Booth Volunteer
If you cannot make a commitment for the full committee, we would love
your help in our booth at the Head of the Charles®. Responsibilities
include selling merchandise, answering questions about the programs, and
generally being a positive representative of Row As One.
G-ROW BOSTON Volunteer
G-ROW BOSTON has opportunities for tutors, launch drivers and coaches
throughout the school year and camp volunteers for one to three weeks
during the summer. This is a great way to experience working with these
fantastic young girls. A volunteer application is available on the G-ROW
BOSTON website: www.growboston.org.
Please contact Ellen Minzner at ellen@growboston.org
with any questions.
Camp Volunteer
Come join us at either or both of our Camps for Women held at Mt. Holyoke
College in South Hadley, MA. Camp volunteers primarily assist with videotaping
during rowing practice, driving vans, and generally assisting the camp
manager with miscellaneous camp details. Food and lodging are provided.
As a rower, coach, or someone interested in general, you get the opportunity
to work closely with highly qualified coaches picking up valuable ideas
and suggestions to take with you back to your own rowing, coaching, or
just in life.
Camp Coxswain
As a coxswain, you can improve your skills, learn from Olympians, and
spend a week or two on the beautiful Connecticut River. You will receive
feedback from rowers and coaches in a constructive fashion to improve
your own skills. Food and lodging are provided.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please
email us your name, contact information, background and the opportunity
you are interested in at info@rowasone.org.
