Camps
for Women
Row As One Camps for Women offer elite level coaching in environments
supportive of physical and psychological needs. Our camps continue to
receive rave reviews from alumnae year after year.
Collegiate coaches, national team rowers, and Olympians join in our mission
to provide the finest technical instruction. Whether you want to improve
your technique, learn a new sport, or reach a higher level, coaches and
staff will help you meet your goals.
Row As One offers three camps. One for learn-to-row, novice and intermediate
rowers,
and two for intermediate and advanced rowers. Click
here to read more about skill levels.
Both camps offer individual instruction based on your current level, video
review, technical evaluations, weight training seminars, ergometer workshops,
optional evening lectures and a retreat-like atmosphere – not to
mention excellent equipment.

We offer coaching for both sweep rowing and sculling. (A sweep rower
rows with one oar. A sculler uses two oars.) Row As One centers
its curriculum on sweep rowing, but recognizes the advantages that
sculling provides including balance, symmetry, technique and connection.
We offer instruction in fours (4+) and eights (8+) for sweep and
singles (1x) and doubles (2x) for sculling. When possible, we also
try to have quads (4x) available. You have the option of trying
both types of rowing while at camp.
Camp Scholarships and Auction
A few years ago, Row As One alumnae and camp participants began
the Pat McKee Scholarship Fund for Masters Women. This fund is an
important part of our fundraising plan. The fund not only allows
for multiple women to attend our camps for free each year, it also
provides valuable funds for our other programs. Participants at
camp raise funds for the scholarships through a silent and live
auction that takes place on the last night of each camp. Participants
are asked to bring an object to offer at auction. Items have included
everything from weekend getaways to rowing t-shirts to jewelry to
garden clogs (in some cases worn by favorite rowers). You are also
encouraged to bring your check book as, for some reason, the friendly
competition between rowers seems to get the best of many (to the
advantage of Row As One).
As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contributions
are deductible as allowable by law.
To apply for a scholarship
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship for 2008, simply
submit the following with your registration form early next year.
| 1) |
A letter from you
requesting the scholarship, indicating your financial need,
what rowing means to you and why you want to attend camp |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| 2) |
A letter of support from someone
who knows you well (friend, family member) indicating your financial
need, the importance of rowing to you and how you would benefit
from camp |
 |
Your registration and scholarship request should be received 30 days
prior to the start of the program. Note that this is earlier than
regular registration forms are required. This is so that we have enough
time to consider all applications prior to the registration deadline.
The Patt McKee Scholarships
are named in honor of an alumna of the first Row
As One camp in 1994. Patt was blessed, and blessed those around her,
with enormous enthusiasm and a great sense of humor. She loved rowing,
and she loved Row As One. As she drove home from the first camp, she
discussed with a friend which session to attend the following summer.
However, a few months later Patt was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic
cancer and died in May. The scholarship was established by her husband
and friends as a tribute to Patt and her love of rowing.
